What types of layer cages are there
What is a layer cage? What types of layer cages are there? Laying hen cages are divided into deep cages and shallow cages or light, medium and heavy laying cages according to the breeding technology, breed, body type and weight of the laying hens. The ratio of cage width to cage depth is less than 1 is a deep cage, and the ratio of cage width to cage depth is greater than 1 is a shallow cage. The former increases the number of chickens by about 1/5 compared with the latter, and the latter produces more than the former. The egg rate is about 4% higher. The fully stepped layer cage is divided into 2, 3 and 4 layers. In order to increase the stocking density (semi-stepped type, 30/m2; full-stepped type, 23/m2), layer breeders are gradually turning Use half-step cages or stacked cages. What are the advantages of layer cages?
What types of layer cages are there?
Layer cages are divided into deep cages and shallow cages. The depth of the deep cage is 50cm, and the depth of the shallow cage is between 30-35cm. According to the combination of cages, it can be divided into three types: full-stepped, half-stepped and stacked cages.
(1) Full stepped chicken cage. Full stepped cage generally has 2-3 layers, the upper and lower cages are completely staggered, and the chicken manure directly falls in the manure ditch, which is conducive to cleaning the manure; good ventilation and sufficient light. The disadvantage is that the stocking density is low and the area is relatively large. At present, the most widely used in our country are the three-layer full-step cage for laying hens and the two-tier full-step artificial insemination cage for breeders.
(2) Half-step chicken coop. The arrangement of half-step chicken cages is roughly similar to that of full ladders, but there is a part of the weight between the upper and lower chicken cages. The overlapping part of the chicken cage is equipped with a manure bearing plate, installed at a certain angle, and the manure can be removed from the manure ditch. Because its feeding density is 1/4 higher than that of full-step chicken cages, it has higher requirements for ventilation, cooling, and disinfection.
(3) Stacked layer cages. The upper and lower layers of the chicken cage are completely overlapped, generally 3-5 layers, with a large gap between the upper and lower layers, and the manure tray is installed inside to facilitate manure cleaning operations. Its advantages are high feeding density and small floor space. The disadvantage is that the requirements for the construction, ventilation equipment, and manure removal equipment of the chicken house are relatively high, and it is not convenient to observe the situation of the upper and lower flocks, which brings certain difficulties to the management. Under current conditions, only a few chicken farms use it.
The role and advantages of layer cages
1. Easy to manage: The scale of the farm is now large, and the cage method is convenient for the management of laying hens and easy to operate.
2. Timely diagnosis and treatment of laying hens: caged chickens facilitate timely diagnosis and treatment of laying hens when they are sick. At the same time, it will reduce the difficulty of diagnosis and treatment and ensure that the laying hens are in good health.
3. Convenient for scientific feeding: cages for laying hens facilitate the feeding of laying hens by farmers, reducing workload and improving work efficiency.
Which layer cage is more beneficial to the layer?
Cage-raised laying hens generally start to enter the cage at the age of 18-20 weeks, and are only eliminated from the cage until the completion of a production year at 72 weeks of age. Therefore, under the good environmental conditions of the chicken house, it is also necessary to have a reasonable structure of the chicken cage to enable the laying hens to play their best production efficiency.
The size of the layer cage must be able to meet its certain activity area, feeding position and height. At the same time, in order to make the laid eggs roll out of the cage in time, the cage bottom should have a certain inclination. According to the above requirements, the arrangement of layer cages must be composed of many small single cages. Each single cage has 2, 3 or 4-5 chickens.
