Precautions for raising rabbits in summer
Shade to cool down. You can plant vines around the rabbit house or build a pergola to cool down. In hot weather, water curtains can be used to cool down, or rabbits can drink fresh groundwater. If the rabbit has heat stroke, immediately put the sick rabbit in a cool and ventilated place, and spray the head, limbs, etc. with cold water
Reasonable feeding. When feeding compound feed, the proportion of energy feed should be reduced, and green feed should be the main one. To prevent rabbits from diarrhea on cloudy and rainy days, mix 1% to 3% charcoal powder in the feed. Wet powder should be fed less frequently to prevent rancidity.
Adjust the feeding time. Feeding in summer should follow the principle of "Breakfast is early, lunch is fine and less, dinner is full, and grass is added at night", and 80% of the daily feed is fed in the morning and evening.
Drinking water. Ensure 24-hour water supply. In addition, to prevent rabbits from developing gastrointestinal diseases, 0.01% potassium permanganate can be added to the drinking water. In order to improve the effect of heatstroke prevention, 1% salt can also be added to the drinking water. At midsummer noon, spray cold water on the floor, space, roof, and balcony walls of the rabbit house to lower the indoor ambient temperature. The top of the rabbit house and the sun-facing wall can be painted with white lime water to help reflect light and prevent direct sunlight from absorbing heat.
Environmental sanitation. In summer, we must eliminate mosquitoes and flies to prevent the spread of diseases. In addition to strengthening the management of feces and toilets and filling up potholes, the rabbit house can also be sprayed with some anti-mosquito and fly drugs.
Prevent coccidiosis. Rabbit coccidiosis is easy to break out in summer. In addition to feeding certain drugs such as gram ball powder, sanitation and disinfection should also be done. The cage should be kept clean and free of feces. Carry out mother and child separation, breastfeeding regularly, and grouping into small and large groups to reduce the chance of mutual infection
Control reproduction. In areas without heatstroke prevention and cooling conditions, if the house temperature is above 30°C, breeding should be stopped, and the cooling protection of breeding male rabbits should be strengthened.
