At present, there are very few rabbit farms in China that utilize modern facilities such as air conditioning and implement closed intensive production. Most rural areas still use open rabbit farming, which is greatly affected by seasonal climate, especially during the rainy season from early June to mid July, the "three dog days" in July and August, and the "three nine days" in January and December, which have a significant impact on rabbits. So, it is necessary to strengthen the feeding management in different seasons. However, there are significant differences in climate conditions between the northern and southern regions of China. In the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, it rains heavily during the Qingming Festival, while in the northern regions, spring rain is as expensive as oil; When the rainy season in the Yangtze River Basin has ended, while the Yellow River Basin has just entered the rainy season. So, when dealing with raising rabbits in all seasons, it is necessary to adapt to local conditions and apply them flexibly.
1、 Spring.
Spring in southern China is often cloudy and rainy, with high humidity and a high incidence of rabbit diseases, making it a very unfavorable season for raising rabbits. Therefore, attention should be paid to moisture and disease prevention in breeding management.
1. Grasp the supply of feed. Although wild grass has gradually sprouted and grown in spring, it is prone to mold and spoilage due to its high moisture content. Therefore, it is necessary to strictly control the quality of feed and not feed moldy, spoiled, muddy, and hot green feed; In rainy and humid weather, it is necessary to feed less high moisture feed and appropriately increase the amount of dry coarse feed; The green grass harvested after rain should be dried before feeding. It is best to mix a small amount of bactericidal feed such as garlic, onions, and chives into the feed to enhance the rabbit's disease resistance.
2. Keep the cage clean. In spring, due to heavy rainfall and high humidity, it is extremely beneficial for the reproduction of pathogens, so it is necessary to do a good job in the cleanliness and hygiene of rabbit houses and cages. The cage should be clean and dry, with frequent cleaning, washing, and disinfection. When the ground humidity is high, grass and wood ash or quicklime can be sprinkled for disinfection, sterilization, and moisture prevention.
3. Strengthen inspection work. Spring is the season with the highest incidence rate of rabbits, especially coccidiosis, which is very harmful. Check the health of young rabbits every day, and deal with problems in time if found. Rabbits with poor appetite, abdominal distension, and diarrhea should be promptly isolated and treated. In northern spring, there is less rainfall, suitable temperature, and sufficient sunlight, which is suitable for the growth and reproduction of rabbits. It is necessary to plan and arrange breeding work well.
4. Ensure good hygiene and epidemic prevention. In spring, temperatures begin to rise, humidity increases, and various pathogenic microorganisms also begin to proliferate in large numbers. So, doing a good job in hygiene and spring prevention cannot be ignored, and timely vaccination against rabbit plague, Pasteurella, and other diseases should be taken. In spring, there is a large temperature difference between morning and evening. In addition to insulation and ventilation in the rabbit house, it is also important to prevent young rabbits from catching diseases such as colds and pneumonia.
